Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the beautiful verses where you have given authority of our bodies to each other.
1 Corinthians 7:4-5 NIV
The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
May we never deny each other sexual intimacy except during times of consent as you say in Your Word, but may we seek to please each other in a beautiful, exciting and holy way. May we continue to find pleasure in each other only, as we grow older together. Holy Spirit help us continually strengthen our self-control as it says in Galatians 5:23 which is a fruit of Your presence in our lives.
Malachi 2:15-16 NIV
Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth. “The man who hates and divorces his wife, ” says the Lord, the God of Israel, “does violence to the one he should protect,” says the Lord Almighty. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful.
May we always preserve the purity in our marriage by never committing adultery, but by remaining faithful to each other. We never want to defile our marriage but keep it pure as we do not want You to judge us but bless us instead.
Hebrews 13:4 NIV
Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
Help us to avoid all sexual immorality but control our minds, our actions and our bodies to remain holy and honorable. May we never venture into the dangerous territory where we feed our senses with anything that is immoral because we know once we begin, the enemy gets a foothold, it could be difficult to let go, and the result could be the end of our marriage. May we fix our eyes on You instead, may we read Your Word with our eyes instead, may we hear your Your Word with our ears instead so that we may we feel Your love for us instead that we do not ever want to sin against you but do that which touches heaven instead so that we may taste and see Your goodness.
1 Thessalonians 4:3-6 NIV
It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before.
Psalm 34:8 NIV
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
May we also dress in a way that says we are prayerful, godly and led by the Holy Spirit to be holy and honorable. May we dress in a way that also says we respect each other’s authority over our bodies by never putting on display that which displeases one another or You. Holy Spirit convict us when we get this wrong.
Show us any influences that may stumble our efforts to walk in sexual holiness and give us the courage to distance ourselves from those influences.
Father may we truly fear You always, because if we don’t we become susceptible to this sin of sexual immorality that You detest. May we never take your instructions lightly, may we never argue with Your Word to suit our lifestyle but may we model our lives around Your Word.
Holy Spirit we need you every hour. Thank you that we can call on You to guide us.
In Jesus’s Name!
