Money In Covenant Marriage – Oneness, Agreement And The Issue Of Trust

Often you hear the term “his money” or ” my money” in the context of a marriage when really it should be “our money”.

When we are one our marriages, as God says we ought to be in Ephesians 5:31, but we exclude money, problems are likely to arise in our marriages. Full trust can never truly take place in our marriages if we are not one in our finances. This can lead to all sorts of other problems in our marriages, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

With our husbands as leaders of our households having the final decision on finances in our home, oneness in our finances means we are transparent about our income and in agreement about our expenditure.

Let’s not destroy the trust in our marriages through being unwise in keeping our finances separate. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:7 ” love always trusts.”

In addition, according to Psalm 133, where there is unity, God commands a blessing. If we are united as one in our finances, God can bless it and multiply it.
