To the young ladies out there, I know every girl dreams of the tall, dark
and handsome, rich guy who sweeps her off her feet and they live happily ever after like the movies tell us! I was young once too.
But let me burst that bubble for you ever so slightly.
The most important thing to look for in a potential husband is whether he is a serious believer! Don’t missionary date a guy hoping that by dragging him to church , after you marry him he will come to Christ. We cannot force someone to believe in Jesus, it’s a decision they must reach on their own. You may be fortunate in that he does but it often goes the other way and then you will have endless issues as you won’t have a common frame of reference (God’s Word) on which to base your marriage, let alone raise your children. God can give you everything else, the house with the picket fence, the top down car with the wind in your hair, the seaside holidays, or other material things you desire. He is the one that gives you the ability to create wealth anyway and He wants you to have good things.
And I tell you what, that believing husband will turn out to be that prince anyway, as he is a son of the Most High God!
Marriage is not a decision that you should make lightly. Attend pre-marital counseling or godly dating courses.
2 Corinthians 6:14 NIV
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
Deuteronomy 8:18 NIV
But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.
Proverbs 10:22 NIV
The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.
